Good News

What can organizations do to inspire their employee?

Accountability and responsibility make people invested

Accountability does not come from a manual book of rules

Inspiration different for guys and girls? Girls want to be known for talent- Boys want to be in charge

Feeling useful motivates people

Trusting employees- letting them know they are capable

“If you fail, we fail- If you succeed, we succeed”

*Suy Sports- Five times ratio: no one makes more than five times more than any other full-time employee- cutting people’s salaries means cutting your own

Positive environment

Good relationships

*Google- Hour and a half lunches, ect ect.

*New Belgium- employee owned

*Zappos- after three months of working, employees offered $1,000 to leave or $0 to stay, to weed out people who aren’t into the company

The difference between work and play

Productivity increases when work is playful

Every organization should have a position for a “question person” to follow up with employees

*Military- Large sense of mission, but relationships are key- Have “Center for Lessons Learned “

Asking questions – make people feel important, aware and curious

Re-cap

Tanks Discussion- Tanks has been lacking a human element- it needs to touch the heart and focus on peoples weaknesses and failures as well as successes. There needs to be time to check-up with the members on their weaknesses.

TED Video:

Collaboration and how it creates wealth for all.

- New forms of wealth: wiki, amazon, ebay, google

- Trust is a stronger motive than self-interest

- Open source

- Google takes what others have created and improved it => revenues from ads

- Urban revitalization => people’s want, different life style => fulfills social good

- Social corporate responsibility – organizations attractive to people. Consumers willing to pay higher prices

What to do with Alums? – think of different structures of keeping them in

Items to figure out:

Have a discussion on our Strength Finder test.
Shouldn’t require everyone to have social entrepreneurial projects.
Let new members try it out first (sit in).
Different levels of membership.
Rotating a chair monthly or biweekly.
Size of the group.
Making meeting mandatory.
Allow people to have extended absences (if people can’t even be present).
Alumni record videos and broadcast them to tanks.
Think of whether responsibilities we assign or project we undertake as part of Tanks are in congruence with our purpose.
Refocus on ideas coming out of Tanks, not just the ideas we bring to Tanks.

How can we create a community that will make people feel valued, listened.

You come, you present idea and you get TRACTION. Create system for traction for each presentation.

Making TANKS fun. Play.
